Although I had a feeling John Lackey was going to pitch well tonight, I didn't expect we'd get eight innings from him. I am definitely not complaining. I also wasn't sure if his quality start would be spoiled by a lack of run support. Amazingly for once, the Red Sox actually got on the board in the first inning and he got to pitch with the lead.

After coming out flat in game 1 the Bruins were on the attack the second the puck dropped in game 2. They will need to show that same energy level tonight as the playoffs move to Joe Louis Arena. With the game in Detroit they will need to sustain that intensity for the entire 60 minutes of play and not have any lapses at the beginning or ending of periods.
Tonight will be a game of firsts for the Yankees and Red Sox. Jacoby Ellsbury will be returning to Fenway for his first time wearing pinstripes. Yankees pitcher, Masahiro Tanaka, will be making his first trip to Fenway and pitching his first game against the Red Sox.
RED SOX BATS WOKE UP IN TIME FOR SUNDAY NIGHT WIN, WILL THEY BE AWAKE IN TIME FOR TODAY'S GAME?4/21/2014 It took some last inning heroics and some untimely miscues by the usually steady Orioles to get the Red Sox within 1 game of .500. In less than an hour we will be able to see if the quick turnaround will help or hinder the bats of the Red Sox.
For a while it looked like the Red Sox were going to have another improbable Patriots Day comeback. Instead, it was just another deficit which was too great to overcome.
