First off let me say that I think the concept of an 18 game NFL season in which players only get to play 16 games is stupid. However with it being July and not having much else to talk about in the NFL, here are my tweaks to make this dumb idea a cool concept.
With the Red Sox currently 2 games out of the Wild Card, I decided to look back at where teams have stood at the break and at the end of the season. I looked back until the 2012 when they first instituted the Wild Card play-in game.
While he was pretty much the only baseball player on earth who could consistently catch Tim Wakefield's knuckleball, Doug Mirabelli never got much credit for swinging the bat. Was it because the everyday catcher was switch-hitting Jason Varitek, or was he really not very good? I've compiled some stats from Baseball Reference for you to look at and decide for yourself.
