WEEK 11 ESSENTIALS: PATRIOTS VS. EAGLES

An uncharacteristic loss and a bye have made the past two weeks seem like an eternity for Patriots fans.  With only a few hours to go before game time, what should we expect to see?
Although the Patriots defense is going to be without safety Patrick Chung, they are going to be back to their boogeyman ways.  Of course the fact that the Eagles offense is not healthy coming out their bye will give the haters excuses for why the Patriots keep them in single digits.  I fully expect the Patriots defense to score more than the Eagles offense.

The one Eagle the Patriots need to focus on is Zach Ertz.  In their last two games the Patriots have struggled against opposing tight ends giving up 11 receptions on 13 targets.  Knowing that he is pretty much their only weapon combined with the fact that the Eagles will be relying on Jay Ajayi out of the backfield should make this a pretty easy task for the defense.

Ajayi will be thrust into the Eagles backfield after not seeing a snap since last season when he tore his ACL.  While he is obviously educated on the Eagles' offense, conditioning and contact will keep him from being a realistic threat.  If I were in a location which let me bet on whether or not Ajayi would fumble the ball today, I would definitely take the bet.

The Patriots' offense has struggled with both their run game and their red zone offense.  While this may not be the week for the running game to take off, if given the opportunity, the red zone offense should be much more effective.  The Eagles have given up just under 2 red zone touchdowns per game this season.

There are multiple reasons to expect a big game from Tom Brady.  One of the big reasons is the fact that he has more weapons at his disposal than he's had since the week 2 experiment.  Already trusting Sanu, Brady also has a healthy Edelman and a new toy.  I'm expecting both N'Keal Harry and Jakobi Meyers to have their numbers called a few times.  It is worth noting that Brady has had some of hisbest games the day after the Michigan/Michigan State game and that game was yesterday.

As usual, at least one of the Patriots running backs will have a big day of sorts.  James White will likely be a big part of the passing game as usual and Sony Michel will probably punch it into the end zone once or twice.
