Yesterday I read the new procedures regarding how officials will monitor footballs this season. Like most I was a little surprised to see the new procedures as earlier this summer after the rules meetings it appeared that there wouldn't be any changes. Looking at what they did, I guess since the rule has not changed for the teams, and only the procedure for following the rule has been tweaked for the officials, it doesn't actually fall under a rules change, therefore no need to take care of it earlier. Whether you want to interpret this change as helping or hurting Brady's case, it doesn't matter to me.
What does matter to me is that Goodell is still dragging his feet and the NFL sits idle as leaks spread like wildfire. Of course if my theory that this is all really just a covert operation to find the loose lips within the NFL organization is correct, then I completely understand. Of course that would still mean that half the population of the United States would still consider Brady a cheater who taped other teams from the sidelines while texting opposing players to get cut from their current team in order to rejoin the Patriots.
Personally, I've never been a fan of Stephen A. Smith, so the crap coming out of his mouth today doesn't really surprise me. I mean is it any coincidence of what you get when you rearrange his initials? I think not.
I love the whole idea of Brady "destroying" his phone. Maybe that's the important thing he was doing when the rest of the team went to the White House. Or it could have been in his pocket when he went cliff diving. Perhaps Gronk spiked it into a million pieces.
Out of curiosity, the whole "wouldn't turn over phone" and "destroyed his phone" comments make me wonder how often Tom Brady gets a new phone. While I'm still using my 4s that I haven't updated in two years, I'm sure he's always trying out the newest gadget. As a matter of fact it just hit me that Brady was picking up an Apple Watch the day after skipping the White House visit (ooooo.....conspiracy I tell ya). With the fact that the "deflator" text messages are from May 2014, was Wells expecting to get his hands on the phone Brady was using then? Other than my dad, I think I'm the only person I know who is still using the same phone they had last year.
