SPORTS SHORTS FROM THE SPORTS CHICK

Although it surely doesn't feel like spring, baseball is underway and the winter sports are wrapping up their regular seasons.  With both the Bruins and the Celtics in position to control their own destiny for a playoff run and the Red Sox projected to score an insane number of runs, all is good in Boston.  With about five minutes to spare, here are some of my thoughts.    

RED SOX- What a great start to the season. It was nice to see Buchholz and Pedroia look as good as I predicted.  While Hanley Ramirez showed everyone why the Red Sox brought him back to Boston for a sweet payday, Pablo Sandoval is still showing me.....nothing.  Additionally, I like the extension with Porcello.

BRUINS- With road games at Washington, Florida and Tampa Bay, the Bruins should sneak into the playoffs with a wildcard.  For the past 6 months all I've heard on Boston radio is how in the NHL you just need to get into the playoffs and get hot.  Hopefully, we can have some good timing this spring.

CELTICS- I'm so glad that they didn't tank this season.  Whether they end up playoff bound or just miss the cut, playing important games down the stretch is huge for the psyche and development of the younger players.  By seeing what our current roster can do, it gives the front office a better feel for what the next pieces need to be.  I also think it opens the door for veteran free agents who want to be on a winning team.
