Last week I was asking people which move they thought was worse: trading Brissett or picking up Gilmore. The signing of Gilmore has obviously been a bad one 8 weeks into the season. In addition to him not being a help on the field, the fact that it undoubtedly hurt the re-signing potential of Butler is huge. As many people have pointed out, making the move now with Jimmy makes for an obvious franchise tag opportunity. Maybe knowing he can be franchised for the next two years will make Butler forgive the Patriots and sign a deal.
Like just about everyone, I was completely shocked when I saw that the Patriots had traded Garoppolo to San Francisco for a measly 2nd round pick. Upon hearing the news I quickly went to Facebook to proclaim it as the worst Patriots' move ever. After having some time to think about it, it really isn't.
Now, if the Patriots don't quickly sign a backup, ideally Brian Hoyer, then I do reserve the right to change my mind. The fact that I thought I'd wake up to the news of that already happening and now it's almost noon, does have me a bit concerned. Part of my rationale for the deal not being as bad as originally thought is that the Patriots would really also be getting an inexpensive backup who knows the system. If that doesn't end up happening, just getting the pick isn't really ideal.
When it comes to trading of quarterbacks, I really think the Patriots messed up when they traded away Brissett. Personally, I thought he was more suited to be Brady's replacement as the timing would have been better and his play had been better than Jimmy's at the practices I've attended.

Besides thinking that Brissett would be a better long term solution for the Patriots, the way quarterbacks have been dropping this season made me feel that the weak Brissett deal was dumb. Of course I thought with him being gone there would be no way the Patriots would trade away Garoppolo. After all these years of being a Patriots fan you would think I'd stop trying to predict the moves they are going to make.

I don't know the reason behind, but there missy be something about Patriots and the way it is being managed right now. In the first place, the coach knows the right thing to do, but they keep on insisting otherwise! Of course, this is a very bad idea as we know that there are things that should have been done, but we did not have a control over the situation! Whatever is happening within their circle, I hope it will stop because it doesn't bring any good to us!
