Having attended Sunday’s Patriots camp here are my observations and thoughts.
ELDER STATESMEN- Brady and Gostkowski are both looking strong and accurate, you know the usual.
PUNTER COMPETITION- While I’m usually one to wait for at least one preseason game to happen before I start making roster predictions, I don’t anticipate Ryan Allen losing his roster spot this season. Although Bojorquez might be comparable to Allen when punting during practice, being able to hold for Gostkowski is pretty damn important.

SECURITY BLANKETS- Gronk and Jules are great as usual. If they could both stay healthy throughout the season, Bill is going to have to rename his boat.
NEW TOYS-Sony Michel and Cordarrelle Patterson are both guilty of showing athleticism, great hands, and good timing with the quarterbacks. Hopefully they both can get their ball security issues under control.
BREAKOUTS- Devin Lucien and Jacob Hollister are players who once again look good on the practice fields in July. Will that translate into suiting up and shining on Sundays? While Lucien might be more of a dark horse candidate for even making the 53, Hollister’s NFL prayers may be answered.

CATCH RULE- I asked James White if they had gone over what a catch is yet, and he said no. In hindsight I doubt the Patriots offense will go over this new rule since a catch using the old rule is still a catch. Conversely, I imagine the catch rule may be a big topic for the defense as there may be times when a PI call is better than chancing a reception in the endzone.
