With the "Drive for 5" complete, here are 5 thoughts from last night's win.
1. While they pulled it off in the nick of time, I'm still not too thrilled with the plan on defense. Looking at Matt Ryan's games the obvious thing to do was give him pressure. When we did it early in the game it worked. When we busted it out on third downs it worked. In my opinion we should have used it much more often in the first half. I don't know if we were worried about showing too much in the first half and then the Falcons making adjustments or what, but we got dangerously close to too little too late.
2. That Edelman catch was awesome. Finally we were on the receiving end of a circus catch late in the game by one of our players. While he had some awesome concentration and a little help from the defender's leg, his gloves may have helped a little too. Although the league is very lax when it comes to gloves, I think that is a place where we could use a rule. Now, before that happens, if anyone wants to go into the glove business, let me know because I have some diabolical ideas.
3. That pick 6 by Brady was awful. I'll admit I thought the game was over at that point. In my head I thought that the red zone turnover was the signature sign of a Patriots playoff loss. Thinking that, I did my best to "change our luck" by researching for a blog post about how all Patriots playoff losses have that one miserable red zone play. They don't and you're welcome. At this time I'd also like to give a shoutout to the fans who stopped watching the game because their friends deemed them to be bad luck.

4. While the new Shields MRI commercial was great, I wonder what the response would have been if the Patriots didn't win and word of the commercial came out. If you haven't seen it yet, I suggest watching the Good Will Hunting video with Brady and Belichick. Speaking of fun videos to watch, I'm looking forward to the Goodell/Hitler video.
5. Special teams were huge in a weird way. I still disagree with the penalty called on the PAT. Gostkowski hitting the post and flubbing the onside kick might be his ticket out. By somehow making both two-point conversions th Patriots pretty much negated both of the PAT issues.
