Tonight the Bruins take on the Philadelphia Flyers for their third and final time of the season. Hopefully tonight's result will be different and the Bruins avoid getting swept.
During November's matchup the Bruins lost by a score of 3-1 with all of the scoring occurring in the second period. The line which struggled the most during that game was Zdeno Chara's as they were a -2 on the evening. Why do I bring this up? Well, Chara started out his career playing for the Islanders and will score his 500th NHL point on his next goal or assist.
The December game quite possibly was one of the worst losses of the season. The Bruins squandered a 3-1 lead in record setting fashion. First off the Bruins played shorthanded 8 times in the game. Not really a wise move since they were already shorthanded from losing Seidenberg a few days earlier. They ended up killing 50% of the penalties which translates into giving up 4 powerplay goals. One of the powerplay goals came with 3 seconds left to the second period. If that wasn't bad enough the Bruins gave up the go-ahead goal a mere 32 seconds into the the third period. Yeah, it was an ugly way to finish 2013.
Lately the Bruins have been playing pretty well and seem to have their penalty kill and powerplay scoring back to a respectable level. I think Brad Marchand is going to keep his scoring streak alive and Chad Johnson is going to
