WHY THE PATRIOTS MAY HAVE BROUGHT IN ADRIAN PETERSON

Old Facebook photo of Ben Dogra messing with fans' heads.
Like most Patriots fans with a conscience, I was upset to hear that the team was bringing in Adrian Peterson for a workout. While the Patriots are known for bringing guys in with some baggage, the baggage typically has to do with a bad decision involving an illegal substance or two.
With the type of baggage Peterson has, coupled with the Patriots not being in dire need of a player with his previous skill set, why in the world would they be bringing him in for a workout? Completely disregarding the fact that his tank is on empty and his body would have qualified for Cash for Clunkers, why bring him in? Were they trying to prove some sort of point to LeGarrette Blount? Were they trying to be like the Bruins and make a wild move while fans were focused on Opening Day, Wrestlemania, and NCAA basketball? Naaaaahh, I'll give you the one logical and acceptable reason.
New England Patriots AFC Champions
The Patriots sole purpose for bringing in Peterson was to play nice with his agent for future dealings. As far as I can tell, Adrian is still represented by Ben Dogra. Dogra was pretty much the most powerful NFL agent a few years ago as he either represented or co-represented 55 players who were taken in the first rounds from 2001-2014.

The downfall of Dogra began when he was fired from Creative Artists Agency in November of 2014. Ben would take some of his clients with him as he became co-CEO of Relativity Sports two months later. Just over a year ago, Dogra's decline hit rock bottom as he received a 3 year suspension from the NFLPA.

Well, as I'm sure you've figured out by now, Dogra is on the upswing as he was reinstated by the NFLPA this February. So, while the Patriots may have no actual intentions of ever seeing Peterson in a New England uniform, playing nice with with a powerful agent may be worth the heat they were taking.
While this was an original post I've been working on for about a day, when trying trying to see if Ben has a Twitter account I just saw that Tom Curran may have floated the same theory yesterday while I was working. If only I could do this for real. Anyway a shoutout for Tom for thinking outside the box.
