Now if a low man on the totem pole (is that PC?, whatever) were to get fired in a such a big way, he would have a difficult time finding future employment. While this may hurt Goodell in the public eye right now, it really gives him name recognition with people who have no clue about football. In the world we live in people are fickle and forgetful. Because of this, Goodell could probably make a run for office and win in a landslide. Sad but true.
Yes, you read that right. If you thought Roger Goodell's past few weeks will ruin his future, you are wrong. Unlike you and I, Goodell is a very rich and powerful man who is playing with a much different set of rules. For starters, Goodell has earned over $2 million since TMZ released the second tape. To put that number into perspective, it would require 43 families a full year's salary to match his 3 week payday (based on median US household income). While money isn't everything, it's a pretty good reason to take the criticism and not step down. Besides the money factor, Goodell is part of the one percent. While publicly the other members of the group may shun him, I doubt they really care. In actuality they probably think more highly of him now. It's probably like a badge of honor in his circles.
