Like most AFC teams, the Dolphins and Jets have losing records against the NFC this season. Considering we are matched up against the NFC South, with their three potential playoff teams the combined record of 6-8 (3-7 without the Patriots) isn't as bad as the others.
With Thanksgiving upon us and the Patriots in command of the AFC East once again, it's time for everyone to come out of the woodwork to say how bad the East is. Once again, that popular take is dead wrong.
Last year I looked at the past ten years of NFL results to see how "bad" the AFC East has been. I concluded that they weren't bad at all. As a matter of fact they've been quite good.
With the team's almost all having ten games under their belts, I took another look at how the four AFC divisions were doing against each other and the NFC teams they are matched up against this season. I additionally took out the results of the top team in each division so their greatness wouldn't skew the results. The tables below are what I found.
The AFC East is the only division with a winning record against the rest of the conference once you take out their top dog.
