Prior to the Christian Fauria "Don Yee impersonation" incident, cohost and former Red Sox, Lou Merloni, was very busy discussing and tweeting about where the Red Sox and Patriots fall amongst Boston fans. Because of that I did a little survey. Here are my results:
Asking my Facebook friends (as in people I actually know) and some sports fans at work to rank the teams in order of favorites, 57% picked the Patriots, 17% picked the Bruins, 14% went with the Celtics and 11% went with the Red Sox.
As their second favorite team: 31% Bruins, 29% Patriots, 26% Celtics, and 14% Red Sox.
If I count the votes using more of a ranked voting system. Giving 4 points to each first place vote, 3 points to second, etc. , the Patriots would be tops with 127 points, Bruins 83 points, Red Sox 77 points, and Celtics slightly behind with 74 points.
For those interested in the makeup of my voters, I'd say it was pretty evenly split male/female, with an average age of 40, Caucasian and college educated. I also excluded the votes given by a Steelers fan for obvious reasons.
