WHAT THE PATRIOTS NEED TO DO TO BEAT THE 49ERS

Coming off a miserable home loss to the Seahawks, a trip to the bay area and a matchup against the 1-8 49ers should be just what the doctor ordered.  Of course we are talking football and nothing should be taken for granted, especially against a team coached by New Hampshire's Chip Kelly.  Nevertheless, unless the offense and special teams give up possessions, like they did last year against Chip Kelly's Eagles, Brady should finish the day tied with Brett Favre for 2nd most wins in the regular season with 199.  For those wondering, Peyton is currently tops with an even 200.  The following is what the Patriots should do to get Brady and team another victory.
Get First Downs- Seems pretty obvious right? If the Patriots can focus on getting a first down every time they go on offense, life will be good. If you don't believe me, check out this post about the Patriots and 3rd downs this season.
Run the Ball- Just keep feeding Blount the ball. San Francisco can not stop the run and very few teams have come close to stopping Blount this season. He's two shy of the Patriots' record for most rushing touchdowns (Curtis Martin with 14). Just give him the ball until the 49ers show they can stop him.
Protect the Ball- While they don't know how to win, the 49ers are good at causing turnovers. Unfortunately for Patriots fans this season, the Patriots have had more fumbles than we are accustomed to. Of course many are from rookies trying to stretch a play a little bit longer and some were just amazing takeaways by the opponents (see Edelman's mugging by the Seahawks last week).
Make Plays on Defense-  The 49ers can't catch the ball so don't give up 300 passing yards to them.  Instead make a play on some balls and if you are a second late, hit the receiver so he can't keep control of the ball.  Watching last week's game it felt like our d-backs were stuck in quicksand.
Be Dominant of Special Teams- For years we've been the best overall team on special teams.  This year we are all over the place.  I really don't care if we go the whole season without a special teams' touchdown, but lets get back to being consistent.  Cyrus Jones has got to get better with his decisions.  I know Matt Slater is making the calls out there, but sometimes it's so obvious what the call is and Jones is dangerously close to screwing up.
