WEEK 3 ESSENTIALS: PATRIOTS VS. JETS

After delivering a complete whooping down in Florida and a week of legal talks and transactions, the Patriots are finally ready to play some football at home.  Here are some nuggets of information to know and share as you enjoy the game.
The Defense- Yeah, they are pretty fricken awesome.  Only allowing three points and two red zone trips in two games?  Four picks and two touchdowns against the Dolphins in Miami?  Not allowing an opponent a run of ten or more yards?  Eight sacks for a loss of 44 yards?  Ranking 13th with points scored in fantasy football?  Sorry Jalen Ramsey fans, we're good.
The Offensive Line- The hodgepodge of lineman that Scar is playing with may get tested today. Assuming there aren't injuries during today's game, I think they will pass the test. Let's be honest, would it really surprise you if Marshall Newhouse gets some crazy contract next offseason after a successful stint with New England? Below are some screen grabs showing the consistency with last year's line compared to this year’s. If you consider the tight end position as part of the line, it gets even crazier.

The Offense-  Yes, the running game isn't everything that we hoped it would be yet, but we are good.  This week shouldn't be the week when suddenly we turn to our running game.  The Jets can't cover deep, and we still have a few guys who can stretch the field.  Since the game is at home and supposed to be a blowout, give the people what they want.  If Tom Brady is reading, what I want is a touchdown pass to Matthew Slater.  You do know that he hasn't scored a touchdown in the NFL yet right?  Give him that Chris Hogan invisibility cloak and send him.  Thanks.

Special Teams- Let's get those gimmes through the uprights shall we.  While I don't anticipating punting, the Jets returner is Braxton Berrios.  Braxton was beaten out by Gunner during training camp, but should be pretty familiar with Bailey's loft and the Patriots' coverage.  While not always feasible, punts to the sideline won't give him the opportunity to have a big return against his former team.

Penalties-  While the Patriots have not played as clean as Belichick would like, twelve penalties isn't that bad.  The Jets have had 20 penalties accepted and 5 which were declined.  Considering they've played both their games at home, today could get ugly.
