I had a pretty busy weekend umpiring lacrosse and doing Fathers' Day stuff so I didn't get a chance to update my blog until this morning.  Hopefully you have had a chance to check out my initial guest post and request for guest bloggers.  If you haven't, please check them out when you are finished reading.
LeBron and Cramping:  Now, I know I'm a little late to the party with commenting about LeBron and his cramping issues but at this past weekend's lacrosse tournament most of the umpires I worked with umpired 4 games in row without having cramping issues.  The games consist of 25 minute halves with 5 minutes between halves and games.  While the temperature this weekend may not have been as hot as it was in the arena during game 1, I'd say we did pretty good for some average athletes who have 10 to 20 years on him.  Just sayin......
Red Sox and Runs:  After blogging about how the Red Sox have struggled in just about every offensive category last week, I was psyched when the team turned it on for 2 games in a row and scored 5 and 10 runs respectively.  Like most fans I thought "here we go".  Of course then I remembered that Jake Peavy was getting the start on Saturday and we all know how the team just doesn't seem to give him any run support.  Unfortunately that dire thought I had late Friday night turned into reality on Saturday when they scored a whole 2 runs for him.  Although Peavy didn't pitch great, he still managed to allow only one run over 6 innings which should have been enough for a win.  Peavy's ERA is now at 4.53 on the season.  Of his 14 starts this season he has 9 starts where he has given up 3 earned runs or less while pitching at least 6 innings.  Saturday was the fourth time this season he has left the game having only allowed 1 run.  Unfortunately it was also the third time allowing one run was not good enough for him to get the win.  So far this season the Red Sox have averaged 3.43 total runs in games which Peavy has started.  Of those runs only 2.21 of them have come while Peavy was still in the game.  If you take out the two games where the Red Sox scored 5 and 7 runs while Jake was still in the game, that average drops to 1.58.
Shawn Thornton:  It looks like Shawn Thornton will no longer be part of the Boston Bruins.  I'm kind of bummed out about this as I liked him as a player.  Although he is considered a role player, I still think Claude Julien should have played him more against the Canadiens and maybe the results would have been different.

World Cup: I'm not much of a soccer fan in general, but like most sports fans I usually do enjoy the World Cup.  With all the controversy surround this year's cup I'm somewhat in a bit of a boycott of the game.  Of course even if I'm boycotting the event, I'm still going to see some of it if  I happen to be in an establishment which happens to have a game on.  Today was one of those days.  I got to see Fabio Coentrao go off on a stretcher after a leg injury.  While the jury is still out on what his injury is, I'm just going to say that if he didn't completely tear something he's a total wuss.

More NBA:  With the talk of Carmelo, LeBron and Wade all potentially playing together many people have tried to compare it to guys like Tom Brady taking less money for the good of the team.  Now these are people who claim to know a lot about sports saying that it's hypocritical to think otherwise.  They must be a special kind of stupid to think that.  Let's see we have a guy who takes less money to stay with the team who drafted him in order to keep his teammates on his team.  Forget the fact of the number of players you need to play football.
