TIMELINE OF THE BELICHICK/BRADY RIFT IS KEY

Have you heard enough about the supposed rift between Belichick and Brady? With Brady and Gronk set to practice at Gillette with their teammates for the next three days, you are sure to hear lots more. Here’s my quick theory to consider.

It’s been reported ad nauseam that Alex Guerrero and his methods are the cause of the rift between Belichick and Brady. The methods have also supposedly been an issue with Belichick and Gronk. While there may be some truth to the reports, I think something else needs to be included in the conversation.

Prior to being known as Brady’s guy, Alex Guerrero worked with other NFL players including Willie McGinest. After being introduced to Brady and subsequently nursing him back from his torn ACL in record fashion, Alex Guerrero has been a bit of a household name with Patriots’ diehards. In 2013 Brady and Guerrero rented space at Patriot Place and TB12 was pretty much born. On December 20th, 2015 the Boston Globe published an article about Guerrero and Brady’s partnership. So in 2015 when TB12 was just something New Englanders knew about while the rest of the nation was talking about taking down the Patriots’ dynasty because of PSI, the thought of there being a conflict of interest was already in several people’s minds. After winning another championship despite Brady’s 4 game suspension, taking down the Patriots organization was definitely still on the agenda of rivals.

​After Gronk decided to go with the TB12 method in the offseason and the TB12 Method book was published in September, taking down the Patriots because of this conflict of interest was sure to be the goal. In my opinion the Patriots were wise to not be as welcoming to Guerrero after he and the TB12 program became nationally known.
