TIME FOR THE BRUINS TO SHAKE OFF THEIR POST OLYMPIC DUST AND GET THEIR MOJO BACK

Eriksson, Bergeron and Rask got their medals, now it's time to shake off the post Olympic dust.
Heading into the Olympic break the Bruins were firing on all cylinders and had accumulated points in 9 of their last 10 games.  As a fan I really didn't like to see the planned break and was nervous about it being both a momentum stopper and an opportunity for our Olympic athletes to get injured.  While we were lucky to have our Olympians return to Boston with medals and zero injuries, it has appeared to put the brakes on our first half mojo.
During Wednesday's game against the Sabres, the Bruins were Jeckel and Hyde.  They started off slow with way too many penalties including one for too many men on the ice.  After going down 3-1 to start the second period, it appeared that they had righted the ship as they tied it up in the second and went up by one midway through the 3rd.  Unfortunately, because the game is 60 minutes long and not 59:03, the Bruins would not come out of the break with a win.  I guess I should be grateful that the game isn't 60:22, because if it was we would have left upstate NY with zero points instead of one.  Anyway, that loss is still stinging a little bit.  I'm not sure if it's because my friend Jamie is a Sabres fan or because the Bruins looked pathetic trying to clear the puck at the end of regulation.  It is probably a combination of the two.

Since the Bruins had a day game at home yesterday, I had mentally chalked up a victory for the boys in black and gold.  Of course we now know that Alex Ovechkin would score as many goals as the Bruins and the Capitals would end up winning 4-2.

Well, the good news is that the Bruins are still leading the Eastern Conference with 79 points while playing less games than all of their competitors.

Tonight the Bruins finish up their first of six back to backs for the month of March when they head to Madison Square Garden to play the Rangers.  This will be the final time these teams meet in the regular season.  So far the Bruins have had the Rangers' number and will sweep the season series with a win tonight.  This season the Rangers are a better road team and are hovering around 500 when playing at home (15-14-3).  Since it's the second game in two days for the Bruins, there is a good chance that Chad Johnson will be in net.  Tonight's 7:00 game will not be aired on NESN, so make sure you tune in to the right channel (NBCSN, TSN2 or R2S2).
