THOUGHTS ON THE PATRIOTS' OFFSEASON AS OF THE VERNAL EQUINOX

While the Patriots have made a lot of moves in the offseason, most people aren't too thrilled with the changes.  As someone who wholeheartedly believes in Bill, I am neither thrilled nor terribly disappointed in the moves thus far.  Here are my quick thoughts on a few of the higher profile players and positions:

Devin McCourty- McCourty was the free agent I was most concerned about the Patriots keeping around.  Once the deal was in place I was thrilled.  Although he is a fan favorite and plays in New England, it still feels like he is underappreciated by many in the area.

Vince Wilfork- Losing Wilfork was a total bummer and roller coaster ride.  After being bummed out that we weren't keeping him, I thought for a while that we might work something out.  I would have liked to see him end his playing career with the Pats.

Darrelle Revis- While it would have been nice to keep him on the team, once it was clear that we were letting him go to free agency, it was obvious that he was going to the highest bidder.  In the end, I don't think the loss of Revis will be as bad as people think.

Brandon Browner- Although it was a surprising move, I like it.  While he might not has given up big plays, he made up for it by getting even bigger penalties.

Shane Vereen- Other than the sentimental part of losing Wilfork, this one hurt the most.  Hopefully, the Patriots find someone to fill this void.

Bradley Fletcher- Although his season ended poorly after he got roughed up by Dez Bryant and DeSean Jackson, I think Fletcher will be a good addition to the Patriots.  The Patriots know what they are getting as he was in St. Louis with Josh McDaniels and in Philadelphia with Chip Kelly and during joint practices.  Fletcher will undoubtedly reap the benefits of the Patriots pass rush and safety play.
