THOUGHTS FROM PATRIOTS VS. TEXANS

While just about everyone was in agreement that the only team who could beat the Patriots is the the Patriots, I don't think any of us were requesting to see that.  Luckily, while it wasn't a very good game, the end result was what we all wanted.  Here are my thoughts regarding Saturday's game.
OFFENSIVE OFFENSE-  The offensive play calling seemed a bit off as did Brady.  Was is because Josh McDaniels had his focus elsewhere?  Was it due to a few of the offensive stars being at half speed?  With LeGarrette Blount missing practice during the week, I assume he wasn't back to 100%.  It's pretty plausible that there might have been a few other team members who may have also been a little under the weather.  I mean giving the ball to Develin on the goal line?  What was that all about.  While I'm glad he didn't expose the ball haphazardly to try and get the score, he looked pretty soft trying hit paydirt.  Another thing that stifled the Patriots offense was Brady throwing to guys who he thought were held.  He needs to realize that he rarely gets that call anymore.  It reminds me of watching Paul Pierce at the end of his career playing against the Lakers and Heat.  After getting to the free throw line on a regular basis, he suddenly stopped getting the calls.
.DEFENSE-  Other than a certain individual making a boneheaded play and getting called for something you rarely if ever see, the defense was outstanding.  Giving up 16 points and less than 300 yards is always a good day.  Throw in 3 interceptions and 6 3 and outs and I upgrade that to outstanding.

TURNOVERS- Turnovers always suck, but they really suck when you get them inside either 30.  While we avoided turning it over in our red zone, two of the turnovers set up Houston's offense with some pretty awesome field position.

ALMOST SPECTACULAR SPECIAL TEAMS- A 98 yard return for a touchdown by Dion Lewis, four punts inside the twenty, including one with an awesome catch by Matthew Slater on the 2.  I think we all know why I said "almost".
