It is almost impossible to get a group of people to agree on anything. This summer was the first time I can recall all Boston Bruins fans being in agreement about something. Looking back, we were all wrong.
On June 6th 2022, Don Sweeney fired head coach Bruce Cassidy and pissed off Boston Bruins fans everywhere. Sure, we were unhappy that the team got bounced from the playoffs in the first round, but how do you can a coach who has taken your team to the playoffs every year and has compiled a record of 245-108-46 over 6 seasons? Now almost 6 months to the day, it appears that Don knew what he was doing and we were all wrong.
After being in Cassidy's doghouse forever and wanting out of Boston, Jake Debrusk looks happy and is on pace to score 54 points. After spending a year back home playing in the Czech Republic, David Krejci is averaging just under a point per game and has points in his last 7 games. Why did Krejci go home to play? There are some theories that it had to do with Cassidy's refusal to break up the top line.
Now, with an hour before Bruce Cassidy and the Vegas Golden Knights (18-7-1) take on the Jim Montgomery Boston Bruins (20-3-0) at the Garden, it's time to admit we were wrong and Sweeney was right......about this anyhow.
