I'll start off with the obvious in case some of you have been hiding your head in the sand in disbelief.
- 9 times.....9 times......the Red Sox have lost 9 times in a row (yes, I hope you all get the "9 times" reference)
- The starters took losses in 6 consecutive games (Lester, Lackey, Peavy, Doubront, Buchholz, and back to Lester)
- Andrew Miller has taken the other 3 losses (note to Farrell- Miller is 0-4 in hold opportunities since May 13th)
- 5 of the 9 losses have been to American League East teams
- We have been shutout in 2 games, losing both 1-0
- We are averaging .239 runs per inning (2.148 per game)
- Opponents are averaging .511 runs per inning (4.6 per game)
- We have grounded into 7 double plays (although I don't have a count, we have also unfortunately lined into a few as well)
- We've had 6 errors (I think some official scorers have been generous)
- 66 hits (that's .75 per inning)
- Left 65 runners on base as a team
- Gone 11 for 66 with runners in scoring position
- Placed 3 players on the 15 day DL (Middlebrooks, Doubront and Victorino)
- Equaled the Celtics longest losing streak for their 2013-2014 season where they may have been tanking
Ted Williams was #9 for the Red Sox. He also served in the US Military (Nayy and Marines) and fought in World War II and the Korean War. It's Memorial Day weekend....a perfect time to remember the veterans and stop the streak at 9.
