"On Saturday, Cam Newton traveled to a club-approved medical appointment that required him to leave the New England area," the statement read. "He received daily COVID tests, which were all negative. Due to a misunderstanding about tests conducted away from NFL facilities, and as required by the NFL-NFLPA protocols, Cam will be subject to the five-day entry cadence process before returning to the facility. Cam will continue participating virtually in team activities and return to the club facility on Thursday, August 26."
If you've listened to any local sports talk shows or read Boston sports columns, you've definitely been inundated with many opinions in favor of Cam getting vaccinated. Many of them think he's just being selfish and should just roll up his sleeve and take the jab.
I wholeheartedly disagree and fully support Newton not getting the vaccine.. A big reason that can not be denied is that last season Newton had Covid-19. He had it, not a positive test that required a quarantine, he actually was sick with Covid-19. Having actually been sick, Newton now has natural immunity. While the media loves to tell you that we don't know how long natural immunity lasts, acting like it isn't going to last for a good amount of time is simple spin put out to get you to take an experimental medical treatment.
If Cam Newton's misunderstanding does anything, it should just show people how stupid the NFL rules are regarding Covid-19.
