Over the weekend the Red Sox had 26 hits, scored 14 runs and the pitchers threw a total of 31 strikeouts. Jon Lester had 12 strikeouts in his outing on Sunday and Ruby De La Rosa had eight during his game on Saturday.
Brock Holt debuted at first base yesterday. The third baseman has also been trying to learn a little bit about the outfield so don't be surprised to see him out there soon. Yesterday Brock went 4 for 5. Over the past seven days he has gone 13 for 32 with 6 doubles, 1 homerun and 3 walks. Holt's most impressive stat of the season is probably the fact that he is batting .444 with two outs and runners in scoring position.
AJ Pierzynski is in the midst of a 10 game hitting streak. This hitting streak includes six multi hit games (four in a row).
Yesterday two minor league call ups Garin Cecchini and Alex Hassan both had their first major-league hits.
