RED SOX STRAND A DOZEN AND LOSE 2-1 TO ORIOLES

John Lester was the sore luck loser today as the Red Sox offense couldn't string their hits together.  Although they had 9 hits on the day, they only managed one run on a Grady Sizemore solo shot to tie it up in the 4th.  The last time Sizemore had a homerun was on July 15, 2011.  That homerun was at Camden Yards as well.

Although Lester would get credited with the loss, he had a pretty good game giving up only 2 runs on 6 hits.  He walked one and had 8 strikeouts.  Lester's walk in the second would prove to be costly as Nelson Cruz would make his way around the basepath for the first run of the game.  In the seventh Lester would give up the eventual game winner to when Cruz hit one out of the park.  Of Lester's 104 pitches, 73 went for strikes.

Daniel Nava was the only Boston player who didn't get on the basepath today.  Although he didn't get a hit, Will Middlebrooks was hit by a pitch leading off in the 9th. 

Even though the Red Sox couldn't string their hits together, they did make some solid contact throughout the day.  Although two balls did leave the field, the weather in Baltimore was not very conducive to homeruns today and the Red Sox had their fill of long outs.  One of those long outs came off the bat of  Xander Bogaerts when there was two on.   

The Sox have tomorrow off from baseball and will be going to the White House as part of being the 2013 World Series Champs. 

Watching the game today, I wasn't really liking the bright colors on the batting gloves many of the players were wearing.
