- So, I tried to write a post about tonight's Celtics/Kings game, but I really found it going nowhere. Both teams are likely playing to lose in order to get into the lottery. The Celtics have announced that Rajon Rondo will not be playing because he is sore. Personally, I hate the whole tanking to get a good pick and think that teams should be playing to win and penalized if they don't. At the very least save the tanking for the away games.
- Although the Celtics' organization may not be giving their best effort to win games this season, the players are giving a lot of effort on the court and are an enjoyable group to watch. While they will make some mental mistakes, they are usually an exciting group to watch and have a lot of talented young players.
- Tomorrow is truck day for the Red Sox. This means that spring is right around the corner regardless of what Punxsutawney Phil says.
- Stephen Drew still doesn't have a contract for next year. His agent Scott Boras, whom I loathe, is trying to get an opt out clause put in which will allow Drew to get out of his contract after one season. Drew should have gotten an opt out clause whenever he signed with Boras and maybe organizations would actually be willing to deal with him now. I would love to see the contract that young players get suckered into with Boras.
- The Olympic Games Opening Ceremony will be on NBC at 7:30 p.m. ET. Since it's not live, you may have already heard about it and seen parts of it. I guess Chara does a good job completing his flag duties for Slovakia. The opening ceremony uniforms the US team is wearing are made by Ralph Lauren and will have "Made in the USA" labels this time around. The uniform the Germans pulled out of the closet might be a slam at Russia's politics, you be the judge.
- I think that in the future the NHL should not stop for the Olympics. If players want to have their contracts written so they can participate, then that can be between them and the team that pays them. Personally, I'd like to see the college aged hockey players get a chance to play.
- While the Bruins had a tough loss last night, it could have been worse for them in the standings had they not made a comeback to send it into overtime. For those not familiar with the NHL, you get 2 points for a win, 1 point for an overtime loss and 0 points for a regular loss. The Bruins were down 0-2 when they came back to tie it. They then lost in overtime which gives them a point.
- A few miserable call/non-calls in the the Bruins game made me more confident in my reffing abilities. They completely missed a high-stick Loui Eriksson took to the face and then blew dead a puck which was sitting in front of a wide open net.
- I wish the next Aaron Hernandez news I heard was that the Patriots weren't going to have to take a cap hit because of his contract.
