Just to set the record straight, I am an alumna of Missouri State University. For many sports the university is a member of the Missouri Valley Conference which makes it a "mid-major". If you are not a fan of a mid-major basketball team you have
no idea about how they get screwed year in and year out by the selection committee when it comes to March Madness.
My alma mater is unfortunately the owner of several of the highest RPI squads to get snubbed by the selection committee, most notably in 2006 when they had a ranking of 24.
Seeing that we are only in January, why in the world am I bringing this up? Well, I just happened to look at the current NCAA men's basketball ranking and saw that Wichita State is ranked at #6 and Creighton is ranked at #20 by the AP. Yes, I know that Creighton is no longer in the MVC, but really, come on. While they probably deserve the ranking, there is no way they would have been in the top 25 if they were still part of The Valley. The fact that they are ranked just shows how the mid-majors get snubbed because of their conference affiliation.
