While he didn't start or finish his amazing career in Boston, Pedro Martinez will always be remembered as a Red Sox. The small,skinny pitcher from the Dominican Republic somehow threw the ball with amazing velocity and still managed to stay healthy until late in his career. On average during his 18 year career in the MLB, Pedro pitched an average of 217 inning per season. Before becoming a Red Sox, Pedro completed 13 of the 31 games he started in 1997 as a member of the now defunct Montreal Expos. In all he threw 46 complete games during his career.
While you can still see Pedro talking about baseball on tv, today was a day to see him at Fenway once again. While he wasn't there to throw the ball, he was there to throw a party. Today was his 3rd annual Feast with 45. As he has been doing since 1998, Pedro is giving back to the community he grew up in. The Pedro Martinez Foundation was created to benefit the children of the Dominican Republic
