Peavy currently has a 4.72 ERA and a 1-3 record. Although Peavy is 0-3 in his last seven starts he hasn't pitched that poorly in his last two. Last time out Peavy was charged with five earned runs in 6 1/3 innings at Cleveland. Farrell probably stayed with him a little too long trying to let him get a win. Peavy left the game with two on and one out at the top of the seventh with the game tied 3 to 3. Andrew Miller then came in for relief and gave up a two run double.
Against the current members of the Orioles Peavy has some pretty good numbers. In 105 at-bats he has given up a total of 25 hits with only two of them being home runs. He has also accumulated 28 strikeouts while walking only 10 batters. If Jake can make it through the middle part of the lineup the first time through he should be in good shape.
The righties should be ready to swing at the first pitch tonight as Norris seems to put it his first pitch right over the plate consistently. Other than that he pretty much tries to pitch to the outer part of the plate for both righties and lefties.
