Last week we all couldn't imagine the Patriots would go into Denver and lose to the Broncos. Yes, the game was in Denver. Yes, the Patriots' offense had been losing weapons like I lose money on Draft Kings. Yes, Denver has a damn good defense. However, even with all that I still felt the Patriots should have won. Having watched the game, we all know that had we received a friendly bounce of the ball, or didn't get screwed by multiple ridiculous calls we still would have won. Regardless, it is what it is and we are on to Philadelphia.
So,what do I think about today's game? As usual I feel pretty good about it. This is the first time in several weeks that I'm not nervous about guys getting injured by cheap shots. Yes, players may get injured because we are talking about football, but in my opinion the cheap shot injury isn't very high on my radar today. As having been frequent joint practice partners, I think the teams have a certain level of respect for each other. Additionally, Chip Kelly and Bill Belichick have a good relationship.
The thing I feel most intrigued about for today's game is if Philadelphia stays high tempo or not on offense. With Sam Bradford expected to return to the starting lineup, recent Eagles' offensive struggles will not quite be the same. Also expected to play for Philly today is Jonathan Krause. Krause was on the Patriots roster this summer and looked like he had some potential.
With Danny Amendola in for the Patriots and the Eagles having one of the worst defenses at stopping the run and getting to the quarterback, the Patriots should be able to get back some offensive mojo on this beautiful day in Foxboro. After being stifled the past few weeks, I'm expecting a lot more points today. Defensively I hope to see very few, if any, big plays given up on third down.
I'm going to go out on a crazy limb today and predict some Jimmy G. time in the fourth quarter. Additionally, I'll put a 5 sack, 2 pick prediction for the defense. Go Chandler, go.
