Tonight will be the final preseason game for the Patriots. Tomorrow will start a month of Patriot football without Tom Brady. Will the team be ready? Will the team learn anything from tonight's final tune-up?
As is typical for the final NFL preseason game, offensive stars will do a lot of watching. Not wanting to chance an injury before the games that count, don't plan on seeing Jimmy Garoppolo taking any snaps. It's been said time and time again that Brady will be starting and Jimmy will be sitting. While I don't have any insider information, I wouldn't be surprised to see Jimmy start the game and Brady take the night off with maybe a bee sting or blister.
Why do I think we might have some surprise Garoppolo time? What better way to put him in another pressure situation before the games count. Last week everyone was up in arms that Brady was giving Jimmy the cold shoulder during the game. Well, had they read my pregame they may have looked at it a little differently. There's about to be one month of NFL football where Tom Brady can't communicate with Garopollo or Josh McDaniels at all. In my opinion it's probably a good idea for the lack of input and experience to have already started.
So, what else an I going to be watching for? Really, I'm just hoping that we don't lose any key players on special teams. I'll be spending most of my time watching the game trying to figure out who will make the 53 man roster.
