RookieT.J. Yeldon will be the running back the Patriots will need to stop.

Prior to telling you what the Patriots need to do in order to beat the Jacksonville Jaguars and start the season 3-0, I thought I'd give you a little primer about the Jaguars.  Since they've been a franchise, the Jaguars have played the Patriots 10 times.  While only one of the games would be considered a blowout (35-7), the Patriots have almost always been victorious (9-1).

COACHES- Gus Bradley is in his third year of being the head coach. Prior to coming to Jacksonville, Gus was the defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks.  Bradley's right hand man (assistant head coach and line coach) is former Buffalo Bills coach Doug Marrone.

PLAYERS-  The three names Patriot fans should know before Sunday are Blake Bortles, T.J. Yeldon and Allen Robinson.  Bortles appears to be an up and coming young quarterback.  As usual he has received some pregame praise from Bill Belichick.  This week Belichick compared him to last week's foe Buffalo's Tyrod Taylor because of his athleticism.  While Bortles has had his share of interceptions, many feel that it was due to poor play of his offensive line.  It is worth noting that last week his line, now coached by Marrone, did not allow any sacks.

Yeldon is currently the top running back on the Jags' depth chart.  The rookie has been handed the ball 37 times for a total of 121 yards.  He has also caught 3 passes.  The 21 year old played his college ball in Alabama and was a total stud with 39 touchdowns over 3 seasons.

Robinson was a complete beast last week with 6 catches for 155 yards and 2 touchdowns.  A second year pro, he played his college ball for Bill O'Brien at Penn State.

QUICK FACTS-

  • Went 3-13 last season with all of their wins at home.
  • Last regular season road win was on 12/1/13 against the Cleveland Browns.
  • Ranked 30th in scoring (2015)
  • Ranked last (32nd) in scoring (2014)
  • Score points on 28% of their possessions.
  • 3rd down efficiency of 30%.
