STAY ON THE FIELD- Week 1 the Patriots offense was not helping the defense in the least bit. Of their 13 offensive possessions, 6 did not include a first down or a score. Four of those quick possessions came in a row after the team had gone down 10-0 after the pick 6. Last week the offense was better at moving the chains against the Dolphins as they only had one 3 and out on the day. Of course that 3 and out was a bit of a buzzkill as it occurred right after rookie Christian Gonzalez made his first career interception.
If the team would stop inflicting wounds on themselves, they could easily be 2-0. Would it be a pretty 2-0? It could be since these "wounds" are what makes the team look like a crappy team. ELIMINATE BAD TURNOVERS- Usually the focus is on winning the turnover battle and then you'll win the game. While that might have been the case for the past 20 years with the Patriots, lately it really comes down to avoiding the bad turnover. What do I mean by bad? Week one the Patriots offense turned the ball over on their first two possessions of the game. That my friends is bad. Turning the ball over early in the game or coming right out of halftime is bad. Other bad turnovers that Mac Jones loves to throw are the dreaded pick 6 and the 1st down interception in the end zone. Trust me, while I haven't written it up yet, I've done the research. All of the Patriots losses in the Mac Jones era involve horrible turnovers. BIG OFFENSIVE PLAYS- The 2023 Patriots biggest offensive play is a whopping 32 yard reception. While that might not seem too terrible with only 2 games under their belt, it is pretty bad. Why is bad you ask? Well you see, the receiver of that passing play was none other than running back Rhamondre Stevenson. So, in reality we have a pass play of maybe 5 yards which Rhamondre turned up field for a 32 yard gain. Currently our longest reception by a non-running back was a 23 yard catch by rookie Demario "Pop" Douglas. Interestingly enough, our longest running play as of now was a scamper of 18 yards by quarterback Mac Jones. Needless to say, we have a really weird trend developing.
