What a difference a week makes. Vince Wilfork announcing that the Patriots do not intend of picking up his option. The franchise tag being place on Stephen Gostkowski. Legal tampering underway. Rumors of the Jets planning on going hard after Darrelle Revis. Devin McCourty supposedly being sought after by both the Giants and Eagles.
I don't know about you, but the anticipation is killing me. Three weeks ago I posted what I wanted the Patriots to do with their free agents. Now with the deadline approaching and no action from the Patriots' camp, I'm starting to get a bit antsy.
When it comes to which free agent I most want the Patriots to keep I have to go with Devin McCourty. In my opinion McCourty is more valuable to the Patriots organization than Revis. While athletically, Revis may be more gifted than McCourty, Devin is the type of player and person who makes me proud to be a Patriots' fan. In his five seasons as a Patriot, Devin has intercepted 18 passes, forced 7 fumbles and recovered 2 of them. When it comes to being a good role model for young athletes, you'd be hard pressed to try and find someone as genuine as D-Mac. While it is uncommon for athletes to play their entire career for one team these days, I can at least hope that we can hold on to McCourty for another 4 years or so.

So, do I want the Patriots to keep Revis? Absolutely. But if we only get to keep one, I'll take McCourty.
