Santana Moss makes a one handed catch while playing for the Washington Redskins.
If you've avoided hearing about how Tom Brady needs some weapons to throw to, I'm extremely jealous.  I think I've heard the same story every time I turned on sports radio in the past few weeks.  While I think that we could add some guys to the offensive side of the ball, especially if we can't afford to keep Julian Edelman and LeGarrette Blount, I'm not looking after chasing after someone who is a "big name" and will therefore require "big money".  Instead, I think we should consider the following players who will not cost a lot of money, yet have a terrific upside.
Anthony McCoy- McCoy is a 26 year old tight end who most recently played for the Seattle Seahawks.  He stands 6'5" tall and weighs 259 pounds.  Anthony did not play football this season because he tore his Achilles last May.  He only played in 2 games his rookie season (2010) and ended up going on the IR because of his knee.  In the two seasons he did play, he had 31 receptions for 437 yards.  In 2011 he averaged 9.1 yards per reception and 5.6 yards after the catch (YAC).  In 2012 he caught 28 passes for 291 yards.  His YAC in that year was 8.4 and his yards per reception was 16.2.

Brandon LaFell- LaFell is a 6'2" wide receiver who played 4 season for the Carolina Panthers.  The 27 year old weighs 210 pounds and played his college ball at LSU.  He has 167 career receptions for 2,385 yards which is an average of 14.3 yards per reception.  Brandon has soft hands and is willing to catch the ball in traffic in the middle of the field.  While his YAC
was only 3.9 his rookie season, it was 6.2 in 2011, .3 on 2012 and 5.7 in 2013.  Brandon had a pretty good game against the Patriots this season as he caught 7 passes for 59 yards and 1 touchdown.  Lafell did not finish out the season strong and it will likely affect the offers he receives in the offseason.

Danario Alexander- Danario is a 6'5" 217 pound wide receiver who is coming off his 5th knee surgery.  He played for the Chargers since 2010 and was waived by the team after injuring his knee in August.  Danario has played in 28 games and has 83 receptions for 1,395 yards and a career YAC of 6.7.  In 2012 he caught 37 passes for an average of 17.8 yards per catch and had 7 touchdowns.  The 25 year old's YAC during the 2012 season was 7.9.

Santana Moss- Moss doesn't have the same height (5'10") and athletic upside that the other guys I've mentioned have.  He does however bring the possibility of  veteran leadership to a group of young athletic receivers.  Moss is 35 years old and has a career average of 14.1 yards per reception and a lifetime YAC of 5.2.  Although Moss isn't putting up the same numbers he did a few years ago, he did have 8 touchdown receptions just one season ago.
