Unless you were born yesterday, you know that the more time Bill Belichick has to prepare for a game, the better his team's chances of winning.  Since the man hasn't had a losing record in New England since 2000 (his first season with the Patriots) and he has an overall regular season winning percentage of 72.7 in Foxboro, about the last thing he needs is an advantage.

Sorry, Chicago, but Bill and the Patriots played last Thursday and you are next on their schedule.  Lucky for you the Patriots will have their work cut out for them since they will be without some key players including two key cogs of their offense, Chandler Jones (hip) and Jerod Mayo.
Here are some facts about how the Bill Belichick coached Patriots have fared on Sundays following a Thursday game.

7-1 record

  • 1-0 with Drew Bledsoe (30-24 victory over KC in 2001)
  • 1-0 with Matt Cassel (48-28 victory over Miami in 2008)
  • 5-1 with Tom Brady
Outscored opponent by 106 points
  • 236 points for the Patriots (29.5 average)
  • 130 points given up (16.25 average)
Only loss came against Carolina Panthers in 2005
  • Final score was 27-17
  • Brady's quote says it all- "We sucked today.  Losing sucks.  Any way you cut it, it's no fun."
