When it comes to the Adrian Peterson situation, the pictures definitely changed my opinion. I first heard about his situation while I was driving in my car. Initially, I was giving him the benefit of the doubt with the thought that someone could be after money or something. Once I got to my destination and saw the pictures on twitter, the case was closed in my eyes. The only thing that could change it would be if the pictures were fakes. Based on the text messages he sent and what he said to the police, the pictures are legit - therefore, case closed.
What a week in the NFL. Instead of talking about the play on the field and the players who have played well or are out due to injury, we are stuck talking about some real crappy stuff. Here are my thoughts in no particular order: Video and Pictures do Matter- Prior to last week I wasn't really sure of what I thought about the Ray Rice incident. Like most fans, I saw the hallway video a few months ago and didn't really like what was on it. Did I do an investigation into it? No, I did not because that isn't my job, if it were my job or probably even the team that I followed, I'd probably have looked into it. Like many people the second video made things a lot worse in my eyes. Previously, I was picturing more of a falling over drunk/ passed out girlfriend situation. With the second video, the benefit of the doubt is pretty much gone. When it comes to the Adrian Peterson situation, the pictures definitely changed my opinion. Keep reading......If a team wants to let them play and the league wants to let them play, then I say they should let them. Of course I also think they should have ridiculous fines put on their NFL earnings forever. These fines should make their actual take home salary equal to earning minimum wage (note- not NFL minimum salaries, minimum wage). All fine money can then be used to help abused children, battered women, etc. This goes for signing bonuses as well. At the end of the year they can earn minimum wage, THAT'S IT! If any of these jerks did get to play in my system, those people watching at home could get a reminder every Sunday about what jerks these guys are and that doing things like that doesn't pay. What Happens With False Accusations?- If your team dumps you and no one else wants you, "it is what it is" just like in the real world. If you do continue to play and it all ends up being a case of horsepoop, then you can get back the money you were getting fined. Obviously teams could look into accusations and make a decision for themselves in the meantime. If you like what you've read here, share with your friends and follow @BOSsportschick on twitter.
