After losing a lethargic 1-4 game to the Canadiens on Thursday, the Bruins took to the ice for a Saturday matinee at the Garden.  As has been the case for most of the year, the day game was just what the team needed to right the ship.
From the face off to the end of the third period the Bruins were firing on all cylinders.  Although the Bruins dominated and outshot the Oilers 9-2 in the first period, they went into the first intermission tied 0-0.  Two minutes into the second period David Krejci would score his 12 goal of the season on a power play.  Six minutes later it looked like the Bruins had a 2-0 lead, but after a review it was decided that Ericksson kicked the puck into the net so no goal was awarded.  Once this happened the one goal lead felt pretty insignificant.

Although one goal would have been enough for the Bruins today, they scored 3 more times in the final period.  Dougie Hamilton scored his sixth of the season by bringing the puck over the blue line down the right hand side of the ice.  After putting the puck on net he retrieved the rebound and went behind the net to score on a wraparound.
Six minutes later Carl Soderberg put the game on ice when he scored his eighth.  Finally, Torey Krug would score his 12th of the season on a power play pass from Chara.  This was Chara's second assist of the game.

Chad Johnson got his first shutout of the season and second of his career as the Bruins out shot Edmonton 41-22.  The Bruins killed 4 penalties and scored on 2/5 power play opportunities.  The win puts the Bruins' day game record at 8-1-1 and home record at 21-6-2.  After 54 games the Bruins have 73 points which is the best in the Atlantic Division.  If the playoffs were to start today we would be seeded 2nd in the Eastern Conference and the Penguins would be in first.
