The keys to the Patriots beating the Chargers and maintaining a cushion with the number one seed and home field advantage throughout the playoffs is the usual.
WIN THE TURNOVER BATTLE- The Patriots are second best in the league with only 9 turnovers this season, while he Chargers are a respectable 7th with only 14. Of those 14 turnovers, 10 of them are interceptions by Philip Rivers. Since seventy percent of his picks have occurred during San Diego's 4 losses, a pick or two against the Patriots will just about guarantee a victory.
KEEP GATES OUT OF THE END ZONE- Antonio Gates is still the go to guy when it comes to scoring touchdowns. If the Patriots shut him down, it will likely be a low scoring affair.
PLAY CALLING- For the love of God, if we could run the ball and use play action 90% of the time we would be unstoppable. If only our offensive coordinator could figure that out. While he has finally put our receivers in positions to be successful, he needs to do the same for the offensive line. About the only time I want to see Tom Brady in the shotgun is at the end of a half or in Gillette.
SPECIAL TEAMS- As of now Danny Aiken is still questionable. If he's not in the game we really need to punch it into the endzone early an often to keep the pressure off long snapping.
I'm calling a nice victory for the Patriots today. The Chargers can go ahead and beat the Broncos for us next week.
