As a team current Red Sox players are hitting .235 against him in the regular season. Last post season, Sanchez had two starts against Boston which both lasted 6 innings. During one game he threw 116 pitches giving up 0 hits, 6 walks and 12 strikeouts. In the other he threw 108 and gave up 5 hits and 4 runs (3 earned). The unearned run came via a wild pitch he through which scored Mike Napoli.
Overall the Red Sox have not seen a lot of Sanchez. In the regular season David Ortiz is a perfect 3 for 3 with two home runs against him. Of course that was in 2006 when Sanchez was playing for the Marlins. Former National League player, Shane Victorino, has a lifetime average of .237 against him.
Peavy last face the Tigers last season in the playoffs. That didn't turn out so well ans he gave up 5 hits and 7 runs in only 3 innings of work. Knowing Peavy, he is still pissed about that and will be ready to avenge that loss tonight. So far this season, Peavy is struggling with the #5 and #6 hitters.
Personally, I have mixed feelings about what is going to happen tonight. Although I think Peavy will pitch a sold game, I never really like being the Sunday Night game of the week. The Red Sox never seem to do well with ESPN games for some reason.
