Jarome Iginla ignited the Bruins' offense with 2 goals in today's victory against the Washington Capitals. Patrice Bergeron and Carl Sodergerg also played a huge part in today's victory as they both had multiple point games.
Iginlas' first goal came seconds after Soderberg finished serving a slashing penalty. Prior to exiting the ice Soderberg sent a pass to a streaking Iginla who would connect to put the Bruins up 1-0. Soderberg would then get a goal of his own as redirected Bergeron's shot. Forty seconds later Iginla would get his second goal as he put back a rebound. The Capitals would get back into the game by scoring on Chad Johnson 10 seconds before heading into the final intermission. Soderberg would get his third point of the night when he assisted on Bergerons' goal midway through the third.
Today's victory is the 8th road victory in a row for the Bruins. They have scored a point in their last 15 road games (12-0-3). March 1st is the only game in the past 2 months in which the Bruins haven't gotten at least one point.
With Iginla scoring his 29th and 30th goals of the season he has hit a few more milestone marks. This is his 12th season with at least 30 goals. He now has 101 multi-goal games in his career and is tied for 25th all-time in goals scored.
