While a win today would bring the Patriots' current win total to a measly 3 games, it would at least put us on 2 game winning streak at home. Yes, we used to average 3 wins a month, how far we have fallen.
BIG PLAYS- Coming off a huge win against the Bills, the Patriots secondary had a rough game in Miami. Yes the defense is getting depleted on a daily basis and the Miami offense is high powered and full of speed, but giving up 2 touchdowns of over 30 yards isn't the way to win a ball game. In order for the Patriots to give themselves the best chance of winning, the defense can not give up big scoring plays. Believe it or not, the defense is tenth in the league with their red zone defense. Over the course of the last 3 games, they are 5th.
DEFENSIVE SCORES- Neither the Commanders nor the Patriots have had a defensive score this season. If I were to guess which team would get one today, I unfortunately would pick Washington. Sure, they just got rid of some defensive players at the trade deadline, but Mac can only go so long before he serves up a score for the opponent.

HOWELL THE QB DO AGAINST BELICHICK- Howell has taken a league leading 41 sacks this season. Belichick's defenses usually have their way with young quarterbacks. Is this just what the doctor ordered after their rough game in Miami? While this could be a game where the defense can pad their stats a bit, Howell does have a rating of 90.1 on the season. This rating includes his abysmal performance against the Bills where he threw 4 picks and got sacked 9 times. To put that in perspective, Mac has only had two games this season where his rating was above 90.1. While I don't anticipate Howell putting up great numbers today, I also don't think his play will be the deciding factor in today's game.
AVOID INJURIES- Getting out of today's game without having another player get put on the IR would be great.
BAD TURNOVERS- The 2023 Patriots have been the kings of the bad turnover. While he's had a little bit of help, Mac Jones is the King of kings. He not only loves to throw a nice pick 6, he also is quite fond of the 1st down interception, the 1st possession of the half interception, and the end zone interception. Not having a bad turnover is strongly correlated with victory Monday.
