Yes, I've been neglecting my blog recently. While this post isn't completely about sports, my ideas are much too long for just a tweet or FB update. If you've clicked on this, I'm sure you are interested in how the Patriots and Bernie Sanders are alike, and no, it's not because they are from New England.
When people aren't accusing the Patriots of cheating, they do seem to be impressed that they've been so good for so long. The league is supposed to be about parity but those damn Patriots just keep winning. So, how are they like Bernie Sanders? Well, many people think that Bernie's plan for the economy sounds just ridiculous and that he is only supported by those who want free stuff and suck at math. This my friends is simply not the case.
If we look at why the Patriots have been so successful, we always point the finger at two people- Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. Like most football teams, Tom Brady is our 1%er. Luckily for us, he doesn't need to be the in the top 1% of the 1%ers. This would be like the super rich being willing to share their wealth instead of continuing to widen the gap year after year. Don't believe that this matters? Take a look at each football team the years following a quarterback getting paid. In sports we consider Tom Brady a team player and don't complain about the guys on the practice squad getting a healthy paycheck. Why should it be any different when it comes to real life?
-On a side note, remember all the grief Brady was getting for having a "Make America Great Again" hat in his locker?
