ERA- Chris Sale's average is now sitting at 3.52. While not in the top 10, it's much better than it was at the beginning of the season. After having his first start of the season last only 3 innings with 7 earned runs, for an ERA of 21, Sale has been inching closer towards his career ERA of 2.92.
Doing a little "what if" scenario and assuming Sale could just get the same # of runs as the 41st qualifier (4.91), here are the new and improved records. Instead of being 4-10 in his starts, the Red Sox would be 8-6. Sale's personal record would go from 2-7 to 8-2. It is worth noting that there were many instances in which assuming 5 runs of support would have given an even better team or personal outcome, I however stuck with 4.91 as my number.
RUN SUPPORT PREVIOUS YEARS WITH THE RED SOX- In my head I was thinking that Sale hasn't had a whole lot of run support as a member of the Red Sox. While that may be true in some games, over the course of the year he's had some pretty good support.
