As a superstitious fan, I did my duty and placed a bet on the Blues last Saturday. So far I'm not needing to cash in my ticket. Hopefully, I'll take the monetary loss and be parading this weekend.
Blue's coach Craig Berube ranks #7 all-time in the NHL for penalty minutes. He wants his head hunting team to play hard tonight and not worry about getting suspended. He of course thinks his players play within the boundaries, while Bruins and Sharks fans know the truth. So, what should the Bruins do tonight to come out victorious?
Similar to what I wrote about prior to game 6, the Bruins need to be ready for the cheap shots. While they need to be ready, they can't afford to be skittish on the ice. If they are going to go after pucks in the corners, they need to make their decisions and go with them. Either go in hard to get the puck, or adjust yourself so you lay the hard but legal hit. Bang bang plays have frequently left the Bruins on the ice needing some ice.
Just like in game 6, I think that the Bruins need to give the officials the chance to make calls and put them on the powerplay. Should the officials refuse to blow the whistle, then the gloves need to come off and the benches need to clear. While he's had a pretty clean series and season, Marchand definitely needs to be angelic tonight so the refs don't have any opportunities to sit him.
