After piecing together four runs by some timely hitting and some miss-played balls by the Braves, the Red Sox will look to take their winning streak to a season-high four games in a row.
Although tonight will not have the 2004 championship team, it will likely have some fireworks via the long ball. Pitching for Atlanta tonight will be Mike Minor, Minor has given up a substantial number of homeruns this season. In his five starts Minor has given up six homeruns. Luckily for him the homeruns have come with nobody on base. More of a fly ball pitcher, I think he may be in trouble at Fenway Park this evening. During his last start at Fenway Park Mike only lasted 4 2/3 innings and gave up seven runs, four them earned. On that day he gave up six hits, three of which were homeruns. Although he typically has better numbers against lefties than he does righties, that is not the case this year. Since the height of Minor's pitches is always within the strike zone, it may really just come down to how wide the strike zone is tonight. Typically Minor like to pitch righties inside and lefties outside. So pretty much the green monster should be in play tonight.
Although I'd normally say that a pitcher would want to avoid walking guys, Peavy may want to do the opposite. Early in the season he was walking around four guys per game yet giving up only one run. However in his past three starts he only walked a total of three players yet he's given up 16 runs during that timeframe. Obviously Jake shouldn't go to the mound expecting to walk guys, but once he gets behind in the count he shouldn't be afraid to put somebody on.
