DOUBRONT AND CORREIA SHOULD BE ON MOUND TONIGHT, WHAT TO EXPECT

Assuming John Farrell doesn't end up skipping over him altogether, Felix Doubront should be getting the start for the Red Sox tonight.
Although this season hasn't been great for Doubront, it isn't really going as poorly as some talk radio callers would have you believe.  Yes, Doubront's 5.09 ERA is above his career 4.66 and his record is 1-3.  However, when you don't have that many innings under your belt, one or two bad starts can really sway your stats in a bad direction.  This season Doubront has had two horrible starts.  If you were to exclude those two games and look at his ERA it suddenly becomes 3.6.  That's pretty darn good for a fifth starter in the American League.  Obviously, we can't just throw away bad games and look at the good, but one lengthy quality start and suddenly Doubront's year will look much better.  While I have no doubts about Doubront being able to give the Red Sox a quality start tonight, I do question how long his start will be.  This season Doubront hasn't exactly gone very deep into his outings.  Hopefully, tonight is the night he changes that.

Last season Doubront didn't do so well against the Twins.  Luckily for Doubront, Oswaldo Arcia is currently out with a wrist injury and Ryan Doumit is now playing for the Braves.  While Trevor Plouffe did have a nice night last night (2 for 4) he was actually taken out of the Twins' lineup for a while after going 0 for 4 in 5 consecutive games.  Prior to last night, Plouffe had 9 strikeouts in his last 25 at bats.
Righty, Kevin Correia will be opposite Doubront tonight.  Correia has a 1-4 record and an ERA of 6.34.  In his last outing Correia only lasted 4 1/3 innings and gave up 7 earned run.  Kevin's primary pitches are his fastball and cutter.  Expect to see his fastball up and outside to lefties and in the middle/upper middle of the plate to righties.  He typically keeps his cutter away from righties and up and in the zone to lefties.  How well Correia pitches tonight may be a result of whether or not he gets the high strike.  If he's getting it, then the Red Sox players better be ready to swing at it.

In the past Victorino and Pedroia have hit Correia pretty well.
