By now everyone knows that as part of Brady’s restructured deal he got part of this year’s guaranteed salary turned into a signing bonus. The result of this move ends up having the $5 million in incentives not affecting this year’s cap. In reality, I think this slick move has the potential of saving the Patriots cap space if they need it.
While there still seems to be some debate on whether or not the incentives will be LTBE (likely to be earned) or NLTBE (not likely to be earned), a guaranteed way for them to be classified as NLTBE is if Brady gets hurt.
While I definitely do not want to see that happen, should Brady get hurt this season having an extra $5 million to play with will definitely come in handy.
