To go along with the shortened season, the MLB is also making two temporary rule changes for player safety. One rule will be evident when watching teams from the National League as they will be using a designated hitter. The other rule will occur when teams have to take the game into extra innings. Instead of starting with cleared bases, they will start the inning with a guy on 2nd base. The following is a look at how current Red Sox players have hit when there was a guy on 2nd.
All of the statistics in this post come from Baseball Reference. Don't forget, the only situational statistic which is showing is for when there is a runner on second base. In other words these statistics do not account for score, inning, number of outs, who is on base, who is up next, etc.
