With the changes to the NHL playoffs which all but guarantee a Boston/Montreal series early on, the Bruins and Tuukka Rask need to figure out a way to beat the Habs consistently. During the regular season Rask currently holds a 3-11-3 record against the Canadiens. It is worth noting that in the last matchup, Chara was on the ice for just under 25 minutes. Although he did score the first goal of the night on a powerplay, he finished the evening at -3. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing a Chara-less Bruins team take on Montreal. In my opinion, the new-look, fast-paced team will match up much better.
Last night the Bruins finished their 4 game homestand in style as Seth Griffith scored the game-winner with a highlight reel, backwards, between the legs, unassisted goal with 2 minutes left in the 2nd period. The victory against the Devils brought the Bruins' point total to 20 on the season. Going a perfect 4 for 4 on the homestand, the Bruins are now 6-4 at the Garden. The next two games on their schedule will be a pretty good test for them as they have back to back games in Toronto and Montreal. Wednesday night will be the Bruins' second trip to the Air Canada Centre this season. Last time there the Bruins skated away with a 4-1 victory behind the 3 point (1 goal, 2 assists) effort of Patrice Bergeron. Since that game the Maple Leafs (or should that be Leaves) have gone 5-1-1 while the Bruins have gone 5-1. As usual the Leafs are led by former Bruin Phil Kessel. Currently Kessel leads his team with 8 goals and 11 assists. Thursday night will be an even tougher task as Boston returns to the Bell Centre to take on the Canadiens. Unlike the Bruins, Montreal hasn't had a terrific November. After putting up 6 goals against the Bruins in their first meeting, Montreal has been shutout twice. Moreover, the Flames and Blackhawks combined for 11 goals on their respective visits to Montreal at the start of the month.
